Who Are We?

Good question… we ask ourselves that often.

The Northcote Kid’s Festival is a yearly event based in Northcote, Victoria, with current homes in the Northcote Town Hall & the Northcote Uniting Church. Comprised of local artists from right across Melbourne, each performance, workshop, and activity is created as a high calibre experience to engage an audience of children and their adults.

The festival started in 2009, when Mitchell Reese from Curious Legends decided to run a children’s show in the fringe, and realised it would get lost on its own. It seemed a simple undertaking to create a festival around it…

That was more than 3 years ago, and since then the Northcote Kid’s Festival has grown. While still a collaborative event involving a wide selection of artists from many different disciplines, we have engaged more with the local community in workshops, competitions, and other events. Mitchell still produces the festival, however Curious Legends‘ workshops and performances now only play a very small part.

The 2011 Northcote Kids Festival is a partnership between 3 organisations; Curious Legends, The Northcote Town Hall, & Chalice. We all work around Northcote, and are glad to be able to give something back to this inspiring community! See you at the festival!
