Create A Floating Artwork

How about this one… undertaken by my son aged 6. Create an artwork with cardboard boxes and plastic containers. Make it quite large and tall (still able to fit in the bath, however). It must be something. My son’s was a fishing boat which had plastic “rooms” off the side to keep fish (bath toys) fresh. The fish needed to be fresh so it could be taken to the fish and chip shop for cooking. Then make it able to float in the bath. My son used plastic containers as a base… It floated brilliantly! …so successful it still floats in his bath one week later (that is 6 baths).

Predators of Lice
My daughter came up with this idea when she was at kinder. Our neighbours with older kids were telling us about their endless struggle with lice and the amount of money they’d spent on lice treatments over the years and how none of them really seemed to work. And my daughter said we should do some experiments to see which creatures might be natural predators of lice and then we could breed them and kids could let them live on their heads and they could eat the lice. Her hopeful hypothesis was that ladybirds would turn out to eat lice which seemed likely to her because they eat aphids. And who wouldn’t love to have a little herd of ladybirds munching away on their head.

Swimming Spaghetti
You will need:
- a big jar
- 1 cup of water
- 3 teaspoons of bicarb of soda
- about 3 pieces of spaghetti (uncooked)
- 6 teaspoons of vinegar
Instructions:
Put the water and bicarb of soda in the jar then stir it and dissolve the bicarb soda. Then break up the spaghetti into short pieces (about 4 cm long) and put about 6 pieces in the glass. They will sink to the bottom. Pour the vinegar into the jar. Your worms will come to life and start swimming around
Add more vinegar as they start to slow down.

(The most impressive circus trick you’ve ever seen was…)
I’m always impressed by adults who can not only still hula hoop, but do so with many hoops in many directions simultaneously. For me trying to hula with oa solo hoop is an exercise in humiliation. It was a skill long a go lost which I unknowingly traded for hips and uncoordination. GO HULA.

Georgia to The Mudcakes
(Your favorite song is…)

It’s probably not our favourite song but we when we brush our hair we sing the Owie song. The good thing about the Owie song is you can pick any tune to sing it to and when you do sing it, it doesn’t hurt as much to get the knots out our our hair. EG (to Twinkle Twinkle) Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow. Owie owie owie owie owie owie ow.
